BID to Invest $5 Million in the Modernization and Expansion of its St-Ephrem, Quebec Facility

St-Georges, QC, May 27, 2022 – BID Group, the North American leader in sawmill equipment manufacturing, automation, installation, and life cycle service, is pleased to announce its plans for a $5 million strategic capital investment to expand its St.-Ephrem, Quebec facility.

The facility will grow by 18,000 square feet, representing a 35% increase in manufacturing space. The larger area will allow for the assembly of the more complex equipment to meet growing demand. The expanded facility will contribute to increasing BID’s ability to deliver its comprehensive line-up of innovative technologies to its highly valued customers.

Excavation will begin immediately, and construction will be complete in the Fall of 2022. This expansion will create thirty new jobs, primarily for machinists, mechanics, and welders.

BID to Partner with Dunkley Lumber for its Edgewood Facility Modernization

Prince George, BC May 5, 2022 – BID Group is pleased to announce it has received an order from Dunkley Lumber to deliver a sawmill modernization project for its Edgewood Forest Products operation in Saskatchewan. Through its industry-leading wood processing technologies and integrated solutions offering, BID will manage, design, build, equip, install, and provide start-up services for the project.

The project will include a new saw line, trim line, and complete lumber handling system in the sawmill along with two new dry kilns. The project will feature a full spectrum of BID’s best-in-class sawmilling technologies including software, automation systems, and Artificial Intelligence enabled optimization. BID’s Integrated Solutions Team will provide the design, engineering, planning, fabrication, and installation services for this Turnkey project.

Work on site will begin late in the third quarter of 2022 with start-up staged through early 2023.

BID Investing $10.6 Million to Expand South Carolina Operations

St. George, South Carolina, May 3, 2022 – BID Group, the North American leader in sawmill equipment automation, manufacturing, installation, and life cycle service, is pleased to announce the expansion and automation of its St. George, SC operations. The $10.6 million strategic capital investment is targeted at increasing capacity through both productivity gains and facility expansion.

Productivity gains will be achieved through the installation of automated solutions including a large Correa CNC horizontal milling machine, robotic welding cells, and additional CNC machining capacity. The investment also includes the expansion of BID’s manufacturing footprint with the acquisition of the adjacent Dover Hydraulics South facility.

The addition of the existing 10,500 square foot Dover building will allow for an accelerated timeline to full operational capability. The new space will be dedicated to the production of BLADE, the recently introduced cutting solutions products and services in BID’s catalogue. Manufacturing of BLADE in St. George will allow high-quality products, service, and support to the company’s southern customer base. The expansion will create over twenty jobs requiring skilled machinists, welders, and drafters.

 

BID to Partner with Canfor for its Urbana Facility Modernization

St. George, South Carolina, May 2, 2022 – BID Group is pleased to announce the continued partnership with Canfor to deliver a sawmill modernization project for its Urbana, Arkansas operation. Through its industry-leading wood processing technologies and integrated solutions offering, BID will manage, design, build, equip, install, and provide start-up services for the project.

The scope for the sawmill will incorporate the full spectrum of BID’s best-in-class wood processing technologies including, a 31’’ VTO Debarker with flare reducer, a high-speed canter line that will allow for increased efficiency processing a broad log profile, software, automation systems, and Artificial Intelligence enabled optimization. BID’s Integrated Solutions Team will provide the design, engineering, planning, fabrication, and installation services for this Turnkey project. The sustainment of the plant’s operational life cycle excellence will be supported by BID’s Reliability Solutions which will provide comprehensive service, parts, consumables, and upgrades.
